How I can help
Every person's journey is different. Here's an overview of the areas I work in and how we might work together.
Anxiety & Stress
Learn to quiet the noise and find steadiness in the middle of life's demands.
Anxiety can show up in so many ways — racing thoughts, a tight chest, the feeling that something bad is always just around the corner. Stress can grind you down until you're running on empty.
In our work together, we'll explore what's driving your anxiety, develop practical tools to interrupt unhelpful patterns, and build a steadier relationship with uncertainty. You don't have to white-knuckle your way through life.
This may be a good fit if…
- Persistent worry or overthinking
- Physical symptoms of stress
- Difficulty relaxing or sleeping
- Feeling overwhelmed by everyday demands
Trauma & PTSD
A safe, compassionate space to heal from the experiences that have left you feeling stuck.
Trauma can leave us feeling stuck in survival mode, affecting our relationships, self-worth, emotions, and sense of safety. Whether your experiences stem from childhood, relationships, loss, abuse, or other overwhelming events, healing is possible.
At Freebird Therapy, I provide a warm, compassionate, and trauma-informed space where you can explore your experiences at your own pace. Together, we'll help you understand how trauma has shaped your thoughts, emotions, and nervous system while building the tools to feel more grounded, resilient, and connected to yourself.
Using evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), somatic techniques, mindfulness, and Compassion-Focused Therapy, we'll work toward helping you move beyond survival and rediscover the freedom to live authentically.
This may be a good fit if…
- Childhood or developmental trauma
- Relationship trauma or abuse
- Grief, loss, or sudden life-altering events
- Feeling stuck in survival mode
- Intrusive thoughts, flashbacks, or hypervigilance
- Difficulty trusting yourself or others
Life Transitions
Support as you navigate change — expected or not.
Change is hard, even when it's good. A new job, the end of a relationship, becoming a parent, losing someone you love, moving to a new city — transitions shake up our sense of who we are and where we belong.
I'll help you process what you're leaving behind, get clear on what you want to carry forward, and find your footing in whatever comes next.
This may be a good fit if…
- Career changes or job loss
- Relationship shifts or breakups
- Grief and loss
- Moving or major life changes
- Becoming a parent or empty nesting
Walk & Talk Sessions
Therapy in motion — available in Sylvan Lake, Sherwood Park, and Edmonton.
Sometimes the best conversations happen when you're moving. Walk-and-talk therapy takes our sessions outside — into parks, along trails, or wherever feels right. The rhythm of walking can help loosen thoughts that feel stuck indoors, and many people find it easier to open up when they're not sitting face to face.
Walk-and-talk sessions are available weather permitting in Sylvan Lake, Sherwood Park, and the Edmonton area.
🐾 Companion dogs welcome — At Freebird Therapy, I believe therapy should feel safe and comfortable. If your companion dog is an important source of comfort, you're welcome to bring them to your session. Studies have found that the presence of a trusted companion animal can reduce anxiety, promote feelings of safety, and help people feel more comfortable opening up. Sometimes having a familiar, comforting presence beside you can make all the difference.
This may be a good fit if…
- People who feel restless or confined indoors
- Those who love being in nature
- Anyone who finds traditional office settings uncomfortable
- People who want to combine movement with their mental health care
Virtual Counselling
Flexible, accessible sessions from anywhere in Alberta.
Online counselling is just as meaningful as in-person — and for many people, it's actually easier to open up from the comfort of their own space. Virtual sessions remove the commute, fit around your schedule, and are available to anyone in Alberta.
All you need is a private space and a reliable internet connection. I use a secure, confidential platform for all virtual sessions.
This may be a good fit if…
- Anyone in Alberta outside the Edmonton or Sylvan Lake area
- Busy schedules or caregiving responsibilities
- Those who prefer the comfort of their own home
- People with mobility or transportation challenges
